Career Journey:
Born and raised in Mosgiel, John studied Computer Science at Otago University, graduating in 1984. His career began in computer programming before he moved on to Hallensteins Head Office. In 1992, John transitioned to accounting, starting his work with Chartered Accountant Gary Pearson at his home in East Taieri. By 2007, John was working more actively alongside Gary’s son, Jeremy, on the main street of Mosgiel. He joined JW Smeaton in 2014, bringing with him years of experience in both the tech and accounting fields.
The Way He Works:
John takes a meticulous approach to accounting, drawing from his background in Computer Science to offer detailed, systematic solutions. He combines his technical mindset with a strong understanding of client needs to deliver effective advice and support, particularly for businesses looking for streamlined, efficient solutions.
Fun Fact:
Outside of work, John enjoys photography and investigating how things work. His curiosity about the mechanics behind technology and everyday objects fuels his problem-solving skills, both in his personal life and professional work.
